Safety Specialist (Pecos, TX)

JOB PURPOSE:
Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Safety and Security or designee, the Safety Specialist performs a full range of safety-related duties at each of the Pecos Children Center campuses to develop and establish a culture of compliance and safety in the workplace. Through their expertise in assessment and through applicable laws and regulations, the Safety Specialist reinforces a culture of health and safety that prevents accidents and injuries within the workplace. Duties cover areas related to a variety of occupational health and safety duties, including but not limited to safety inspections, accident investigations, creating and facilitating safety training, and interpreting and applying safety-related laws, policies, and regulations. The Safety Specialist must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with their team as well as build relationships with other department staff. The ideal candidate will be skilled in effective communication, active listening, empathy, conflict resolution, and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
