Battling the Veteran Mental Health Crisis: 5 Ways the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors Helps
Are you a Veteran looking for mental health support? The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors® wants to help. Here are five unique, integrated ways we seek to make life easier, happier, and more healthy for Veterans and their families.
Unsure what the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors® is or how it can help you? If you’re a Veteran looking for resources, here are five ways the Cohen Clinic has you covered.
According to the National Council for Behavioral Health, 30 percent of active duty and reserve military personnel deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan have a mental health condition requiring treatment.
Yes, you heard right. This means that approximately 730,000 men and women returning from deployment are in need of professional mental health care.
The worst part? Less than 50 percent of returning Veterans in need receive any mental health treatment at all.
This is where we come in. The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors® provides high-quality, accessible, and integrated mental health care to Veterans and their families at three locations: San Antonio, El Paso, and Killeen.
Here are five ways that we seek to assist Veterans— regardless of role while in uniform or discharge status.
- Provides high-quality counseling
- Works one-on-one to connect you to local resources
- Connects you to therapy— even online
- Keeps you happy and healthy
- Helps you manage your medication
- Veterans who do not receive mental health care in the VA system, whether for reasons of limited accessibility or other factors (including personal preference)
- Veterans who are ineligible for care in the VA system (e.g., due to discharge status, conditions that are not service-connected)
- Family members of Veterans, reservists, National Guard and active duty service members, regardless of dependent status. Family members include parents, siblings, spouses/significant others, children, and anyone else designated by the Veteran.
